How Do Fashion and the Metaverse Mix?

I think we all can agree we have heard a lot about the Metaverse. How it’s going to be, what everyone uses in the future, how we should learn more about it, or my favorite line “ you are going to be the managers of future metaverse companies so start learning all you can now”. I can tell you how uninterested I was when I first learned about it. It was such a big push on to the next generation of workers in the industry and I never wanted to talk about it.

Give or take a year later, reading more about it and learning more and seeing how the digital life is coming into action in many parts of my life, I now see how keen it is to be open about learning new things. I sometimes think back to how each generation in the past felt about new technology and how they said only bad things and were never open to learning about it.

Being in my young 20s and being in generation – Z has opened me up to new experiences and new ways of thinking.  ( No matter how hard I try to fit in with millennials ). While the Metaverse is starting to trend I think it’s good to see what will be popular in the future and what is to come. For anyone who does not know what I am talking about, think about existing platforms like the Oculus having to think like VR Chat or Fortnite.

According to the Oxford dictionary.

 Metaverse ( noun ): “a virtual-reality space in which users can interact with a computer-generated environment and other users"

 I can go on and on explaining what it is and how many people dislike the topic but what is important is “ what does this mean for fashion?” Here are some great examples of how fashion brands are working with the Metaverse.

Snapchat releases Bitmoji fashion collections from many distinct fashion industries as it continues to construct its personalization tools. they're collaborating with brands like Off-White, Nike, Adidas, Polo, North Face and variety more

Nikeland

What is Nikeland? The idea of the Nikeland encounter is to get shoppers moving and to pivot sport and play into a lifestyle. With their moveable devices and utilizing the accelerometer, Nikeland visitors can activate superpowers like lengthy jumps and faster in-game sprints. Into The Metaverse ( Adidas )

Adidas launched “Into The Metaverse”. Into the Metaverse is a collaborative NFT plan between adidas Originals and NFT pioneers " gmoney, Bored Ape Yacht Club and PUNKS Comic: . The Phase 1 NFT was the 1st step of the Into the Metaverse. Having this NFT allows you access to exclusive products in the physical world, without paying more, throughout 2022.


As the fashion industry continues to trendset and move forward, it's not surprising to see apparel brands embracing emerging technology, in particular non-fungible tokens. With the metaverse now rapidly taking shape, this allows for new mediums to be experimented with, which in turn provides new ways for apparel brands to connect with their consumers.
