If you didn’t know by now..

One of the most remarkable and cherished experiences on the island of Zakynthos is witnessing the majestic Caretta-Caretta sea turtles in their natural habitat. Zakynthos is home to several nesting beaches where these endangered turtles come to lay their eggs. One such beach is Laganas Bay, which is part of the protected National Marine Park of Zakynthos.

Visitors have the incredible opportunity to join guided boat tours or take a glass-bottom boat excursion to observe these magnificent creatures up close. Expert guides provide valuable information about the turtles' lifecycle, their nesting habits, and the conservation efforts in place to protect them.

The nesting season typically occurs from May to October, during which time special precautions are taken to ensure the safety of the turtles and their hatchlings. Visitors are advised to adhere to guidelines, such as avoiding flash photography, loud noises, and touching the turtles or their nests, to minimize disturbance and promote their well-being.
